Change in Subscriptions - it's good news
When I first started my Substack newsletter I thought it would be a cool place to share my more niche interests in forgotten histories and characters, like a ‘forgotten history club’ for all of us to be part of. When a few people began to pledge to help support me with a paid subscription I was thrilled - I could use the money for train tickets to exhibitions and archives to find out even more about these lost figures and events of our shared history and share my findings with you all. I’ve been able to visit places and see things I wouldn’t normally have been able to do, so thank you. It’s an absolute passion of mine, one that sometimes keeps me up until 4am scrolling through old documents, and I am so grateful for the support you have all showed me, whether with a paid subscription or through your kind comments, and honestly just reading what I’ve found out. I firmly believe that these stories are part of our shared history and so important to the wider narrative written into the history books.
This week, I’ve made the decision to turn off paid subscriptions completely and provide this content to all of you, free of charge. Initially, paid subscribers received work that took me longer or needed travel, purchases, fees or research memberships of my own to complete. However from today you will all receive this premium content as part of the standard, free, subscription. That includes a ‘forgotten person’ story each month and a roundup of new blog posts on Love British History. As a subscriber you will also have free access to the backlog of posts, so do go and have a read. I have issued a refund for those of you on paid plans.
Let’s discover the stories of our forgotten ancestors together.
With much love
Jo
